چکیده

The statistics of solutions to a family of one-dimensional random-force-driven advection-diffusion equations is studied using high resolution numerical simulations. The equation differs from the usual Burgers equation by the non-local form of the nonlinear interaction term mimicking the non-locality of the Navier–Stokes equation. It is shown that under an appropriate choice of random forcing the statistical properties of the solution ~energy spectrum and scaling exponents of structure functions! coincide with those of Kolmogorov turbulence. Also, a generalization is proposed which allows intermittency effects to be modeled. © 1997 American Institute of Physics. @S1070-664X~97!00705-2#

Reproducing Kernel Space Hilbert Method for Solving Generalized Burgers Equation

In this paper, we present a new method for solving Reproducing Kernel Space (RKS) theory, and iterative algorithm for solving Generalized Burgers Equation (GBE) is presented. The analytical solution is shown in a series in a RKS, and the approximate solution u(x,t) is constructed by truncating the series. The convergence of u(x,t) to the analytical solution is also proved.

PDFs for the Random Forced Burgers Equation

We propose a new approach for the analysis of stationary correlation functions of 1D Burgers equation driven by a random force. We use this to study the asymptotic behavior of the probability distribution of velocity gradients and velocity increments. Large negative velocity gradients in Burgers turbulence.

We consider one-dimensional Burgers equation driven by large-scale white-in-time random force. The tails of the velocity gradients probability distribution function (PDF) are analyzed by saddle point approximation in the path integral describing the velocity statistics. The structure of the saddle-point (instanton), that is, the velocity field configuration realizing the maximum of probability,...

A kinetic theory of shock clustering in scalar conservation laws

We describe a kinetic theory for shock clustering in scalar conservation laws with random initial data. Our main discovery is that for a natural class of random data the shock clustering is described by a completely integrable Hamiltonian system. Thus, the problem is in a precise sense exactly solvable. Our results have implications in other areas: mathematical physics (limits of shell models o...

Kolmogorov turbulence in a random-force-driven Burgers equation: Anomalous scaling and probability density functions.

High-resolution numerical experiments, described in this work, show that velocity fluctuations governed by the one-dimensional Burgers equation driven by a white-intime random noise with the spectrum |f(k)| ∝ k exhibit a biscaling behavior: All moments of velocity differences Sn≤3(r) = |u(x+ r)− u(x)| n ≡ |∆u| ∝ rn/3, while Sn>3(r) ∝ r ξn with ξn ≈ 1 for real n > 0 (Chekhlov and Yakhot, Phys.
